Smith for Vitagraph New York premier: c13 May 1923 Genre: Melodrama Dick Halpin (Cullen Landis) is falsely accused of theft by Mabel Arthur's brother (Mabel is played by Alice Calhoun, and is the girl of Dick's fancy). To save Mabel from humiliation, Dick accepts the blame, but runs away to join the Navy. He is shanghaied with new-found friend, Liutenant Breen (Earle Williams). The two enjoy cruel treatment until they finally escape and are able to rejoin their ship, just as war is breaking out with Spain. Eventually, Dick returns home and Mabel's brother confesses his guilt of the theft, and all is well. *Director David Smith was sometimes listed as "David Divad" in films. |
