| A Hero of the Big Snows Directed by Herman C. Raymaker Prod: Warner Bros. Released 24 Jul 1926 A "Rin Tin Tin" Adventure Assistant Director: Gene Anderson Scenario and story writer: Ewart Adamson Camera: Ed DuPar Assistant Camerman: Walter Robinson Discouraged and despondent with life among the trappers in the snow country, Ed Nolan discovers the notorious Black Beasley mistreating a dog at the local trading post and ends up fighting Beasley. However, Rinty, the dog, wins the battle himself by attacking the cruel trapper. The dog accepts Ed as his friend and follows him home, but refuses to enter the neglected cabin where Ed plans to reside. Ed then visits Mary Mallory, a woman whom Ed fancies but has failed to win over. Rinty follows and Mary is enchanted by the dog, and a new understanding between Ed and Mary is born. Rinty becomes devoted to Mary and her little sister (played by Mary Jane Milliken). One day, a black wolf tries to attack Mary's baby sibling and Rinty protects the child. However, Mary finds the child traumatically frightened and leaps to the conclusion that it was Rinty who attacked the child. Ed heroically offers to euthanize the dog. Mary is soon after forced to rush the child through a raging storm to the doctor; a fallen tree capsizes her sled; the loyal dog takes a message to Ed who can save them with a rescue party. Rinty is finally redeemed and we all safely assume that Ed and Mary will live happily ever after, together, along with Baby Sister and Rinty. (c) Warner Bros. Pictures 7/10/1926 LP 22902. |
